Theme: Co‑Creating New Pathways in Art & Culture

ArtBiz Asia Hengqin -

"GBA THROUGH THE LENS" Photo Exhibition

The “GBA THROUGH THE LENS” is a collaborative photography exhibition presented by ArtBiz Asia and the HALFTONE - Macau Photographic Association. The project explores how photography can interpret and reveal the artistic, urban, and cultural dimensions of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), offering a layered perspective on the region’s people, cities, and cultural landmarks. Featuring 25 works by five photographers currently based in the GBA, the exhibition brings together diverse visual narratives by André Carvalhosa, Cássia Schutt, José Luis de Sales Marques, Tang Kuok Hou, and Hans Liu. Through their distinct lenses, the photographers capture the vibrancy and diversity of the region, presenting personal interpretations of Macau, Zhuhai, Hengqin, and Hong Kong, and highlighting the richness of the GBA’s evolving cultural landscape.

André Carvalhosa: “When Darkness Falls” series captures the dynamic spirit of Hong Kong. Cássia Schutt: “Colours of the City” series focuses on the vibrancy and human beauty found in Macau’s older neighborhoods. José Luís de Sales Marques: “The Mandarin House” series focuses on light and shadow to reflect on the former residence of Zheng Guanying, a prominent nineteenth-century businessman in Macau. Tang Kwok Hou: “Photosynthesis” series examines Macau’s nightlife and visual expression, emphasizing the city’s contrasting visuals. Hans Liu: “Contrast & Coexistence” series reflects on the evolution of Hengqin and Zhuhai, two rapidly growing cities in the GBA.
